Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
